2013 Scripture Memory “Clinical Trial”: Verse #1

Hey there Friends,

I’m posting two blog pieces today “Scripture Memory Clinical Trial”- Part 1 and Part 2. I got to thinking that there may be more of you out there who might just have a need to treat the “issues” in your life with the potent Word of God this year and get victory over them in 2013.

A group of us have begun a challenge this year in what we are calling a Scripture Memory “Clinical Trial” for 2013. I am an absolute believer in the Word of God. As you may have heard me say a time or two, the Word of God works when you work the Word! A clinical trial is, by definition: A trial to determine the effectiveness of a medication or treatment on a particular disease, mental or physiological issue. So I’ve challenged a group of us to take our biggest issues and dig into God’s Word to find truth to treat said issues because the Word of God is living and active and powerful, operative, energizing, and effective (Hebrews 4:12, AMP)- at treating every single one of the issues you have before you.

We would love for YOU to join us if you’d like. All you need is your Bible and some kind of spiral-bound cards (we are using spiral-bound index cards that you can get at any drug or office supply store) to write your verses in. There’s no pressure here… just a group of women, on a mission to test and prove the effectiveness of God’s Word when liberally applied to (and believed over) the issues of our life. We are following the schedule that Beth Moore has initiated on her Living Proof blog and there are more details on that below.  Read on!

Here’s the email I sent on 12/31/12…

Hey there girls and HAPPY NEW YEAR 2013-

I’m writing you this New Year’s Eve with an invitation to join me in a year of transformation through Scripture memory. I am an absolute believer in the Word of God. As you may have heard me say a time or two, the Word of God works when you work the Word! So I’d like to challenge you to join me in what I’m calling a Scripture Memory Clinical Trial. A clinical trial is, by definition: A trial to determine the effectiveness of a medication or treatment on a particular disease, mental or physiological issue.

There’s no more destructive disease known to man than the disease of sin. With Scripture memory, we use the Word of God to effectively treat “sin issues” and strongholds in our life, while at the same time discovering more of who God is. So, what issues am I referring to? Issues like fear, pride, unbelief, idolatry, unforgiveness, jealousy, envy, selfish ambition, covetousness, greed, comparison, insecurity, lack of confidence, an “I can’t” attitude, a rebellious spirit, a critical or judgmental spirit toward yourself or others… Shall I go on?

Therefore, what I’d like for you to do is think of your top one, two or three “issues”- those things that have kept you stuck for too long, things that are keeping you from being all that God intends for you to be and doing all that God intends for you to do. Things… issues… sins… strongholds that are holding us back from living the abundant life (John 10:10). Write those things down. (You can share them with me if you want to, but it’s not necessary.) Find Scriptures that speak to those issues and record them in your spiral book and begin to meditate on and memorize them. Pray them aloud, write them out. Every time that thing… that issue starts pounding away in your head and heart, you take up the “Sword of the Spirit which is the Word of God”… and do battle. USE IT!! God’s Word is the only weapon of defense He’s given us (Ephesians 6:10-18) and the only things with which we can “take thoughts captive” (2 Corinthians 10: 3-5).

So here’s how it works. I’m following Beth Moore’s method of Scripture memory (see details at http://blog.lproof.org/2012/12/siesta-scripture-memory-team-2013-instructions.html ). I’ve done this in the past and it works. So why mess with a good thing?

I sent or gave each of you one of the SIESTA 2013 SCRIPTURE MEMORY TEAM spirals that I purchase from Beth Moore’s Living Proof Ministries…

In keeping with her directive, we’ll memorize (or meditate on) 2 verses per month. The 1st and the 15th of each month you will pick your own verses. Verses that mean something to you and that speak to your particular “issues” will be easier for you to memorize. Write them down in your spiral…take it with you wherever you go, say it out loud, pray it out… USE IT! I’ll send an email reminder and share my verse with you… and you can feel free to share yours with me if you want. All I ask is that you really participate in this Scripture Memory Clinical Trial so that we can stand together in spirit on December 31, 2013 with 24 verses committed to memory and boldly proclaim that- “We are living proof that the Word of God works because we’ve worked the Word of God into our minds and hearts and have had victory over our strongholds!”

For crying out loud… let’s not be packing up the same baggage next year at this time. Let’s not become one year older still lamenting over the same old stuff we can’t seem to shake. Let’s let the Word of God accomplish its work in us this year and take the victory over our stuff. I love you all and look forward to a journey toward victory with you in 2013!

Let me know if you’re in as soon as you can. We start TOMORROW… 1/1/13!

For the Word that God speaks is alive and full of power [making it active, operative, energizing, and effective]; it is sharper than any two-edged sword, penetrating to the dividing line of the [a]breath of life (soul) and [the immortal] spirit, and of joints and marrow [of the deepest parts of our nature], exposing and sifting and analyzing and judging the very thoughts and purposes of the heart.
Hebrews 4:12 (AMP)

If you are just now reading this it’s not too late to join us in this “Clinical Trial”.  I hope you will… or at the very least make Scripture memory a holy habit in 2013.

You are greatly and dearly loved by the King…and don’t you dare forget it!
