24 in 2010: Scripture Memory – Verse #1

HAPPY NEW YEAR TWO THOUSAND TEN!!!

It’s a new year, a new decade, AND a new commitment to memorize Scripture in 2010!

Thank you, sweet sisters, for taking the “24 in 2010” challenge this year.  You will not regret this commitment!  You will not end up the year 2010 worse off.  No ma’am!  This is going to be a life-changing 12 months, a tremendously worthwhile and eternal investment of your time, and one victorious year ahead!  Amen?  Amen!  Not only are we going to memorize 24 verses from Scripture, but we are going to begin to internalize the Truth for good! I’m talking about living the living and active Word of God… and thinking God’s thoughts over the things that have us bound up.  That’s what II Corinthians 10:5 is talking about when Paul says, “…taking every thought captive to make it obedient to Christ.”

Alrighty girls!  Here’s my first verse for the year from Deuteronomy 11:1-12 (New King James Version):

But the land which you cross over to possess is a land of hills and valleys (been there), which drinks water from the rain of heaven, and a land for which the LORD your God cares; the eyes of the LORD your God are always on it (just picture His tender, constantly attentive care), from the beginning of the year to the very end of the year. (My comments added)

Now, what’s yours?  Please share it in the “‘comments” section of the blog so everyone can read it.  It will be great fun to encourage and inspire one another with the verses the Lord’s led us to.

Remember, we’ll be picking a new verse on the 1st and 15th of every month.  I’ll keep sending you reminders and some encouragement and “how to’s” on memorizing and making the most of your investment in God’s Word.

But before we get going let’s take this time to offer up our commitment to the Lord and ask His blessing on the year ahead as we “treasure up” God’s commands within us (Proverbs 2:1).  Will you pray along with me, beloved?

Father God, in this very first hour of this very first day of the year of our Lord 2010, we offer up our praise and thanks to You for Your greatness, O King of kings and Lord of lords; for Your endless love, mercy and grace; and for your infinite wisdom and eternal Word.  We commit to You the year ahead and our desire to love You with all of our mind by hiding Your Word in our hearts, storing it up as treasure, and living it out day by day.

Lord, You have told us through the prophet Isaiah that You send forth Your Word and it accomplishes what You desire and achieves the purpose for which You sent it (Isaiah 55:11).  Therefore, by faith, we believe that You will accomplish Your many purposes in the lives of each and every woman who chooses to memorize and meditate on the Word You bring to her.  Your Word has life (John 6:68-69; Hebrews 4:12) and power (I Thessalonians 1:5; Hebrews 1:3) and is able to transform us (Romans 12:2) and set us free (II Corinthians 10:5).  We claim a victorious year, demolishing strongholds of all kinds as we replace our thoughts with Yours!

Lord, You are the God who was and is and is to come (Revelation 4:8).  As midnight approaches, only seconds separate the old year from the new, and You know exactly every detail of what lies ahead for each of us, just as You knew what was to come last year.  And so, dear Lord, I pray You would give each one of us Your perfect and specific Word to help us overcome the trials of what was, to persevere in what is, and to strengthen us, equip us and prepare us for what is to come.

Bless You, sweet Lord, for thinking of us so very, very long ago and knowing how very much we would need Your Word, Your eternal Truth to nourish us, guide us and help us to live the life that You intended for us.  Oh how we love You, and how we want to know and love You even more throughout this year.  We pray that You would give each of us the Spirit of wisdom and revelation to know You better (Ephesians 1:17).

Oh, thrill us, Lord!  Thrill us with Your Word; thrill us with You!  And may our lives bring glory to You as we seek Your face.

We pray with expectation in the strong, accomplishing and matchless Name of the One who is the Living Word: Jesus- in His beautiful Name we pray.

Amen!

With love – Punky
