24 in Twenty-Ten: Scripture Memory Verse #16

Afternoon, Sweet Friends!

What a week!  What a weekend!  We had a great High Impact Discipleship Seminar on Friday night and Saturday morning with a great group of folks from Reunion Church!  I love meeting new family in the body of Christ and this clan is very near and dear to my heart and John’s; their pastor/shepherd, Richard Ellis, is a dear friend and amazing teacher/preacher of God’s Word, and a true disciple-maker!  Check out his radio teaching at Reunionchurch.org and give a listen.

Since we had the seminar Friday night, JT and I had our “date night” on Saturday evening.  We were both so pooped we decided to scrap the movie and settle for a great dinner at a new restaurant we like, then a trip to Target.  Is that just more excitement than you can stand?  Yes.  It was for us, too.  On the way to Target I commented that I bet not many couples go to Target on their date night.  Well, shut my mouth!  As we were walking in the store out walks this cute couple, all dressed to the nines.  Not shopping-at-Target-attire either.  I’m certain it was date night for them, too!  Go figure!

OK, Scripture Memory Verse #16…  A long time ago in a land far away I worked as an actor (actor, actress, whatever).  I traveled quite a bit to auditions all over the state of Florida, where I was living at the time, and the southeast.  I drove a Toyota Celica that was about like a skateboard on wheels, but I loved it… and it took me to places all over the country and never failed me.  Not once.  It was my “prayer closet” for the 10 years (yes, TEN) that I drove it!  I’d head down the highway with a cassette tape (grin) of praise and worship tunes that I played over and over and over again.  They were mostly Scriptures put to music that I sang at the top of my lungs (with the windows rolled up) while driving down the turnpike or I-95 from Orlando to Miami, or Tampa, or Jacksonville, or Atlanta or wherever.  Singing the Scriptures really helped me to memorize the verses.  It’s been close to 20 years since I made those audition trips.  Many of those verses are still near and dear to my heart; one in particular that I struggled to recall so I thought I’d re-memorize it.

We wait in hope for the LORD; he is our help and our shield.  In him our hearts rejoice, for we trust in his holy name.  May your unfailing love rest upon us, O LORD, even as we put our hope in you. Psalm 3:20-22

Perhaps I will record it in song and play it for you later.  Not.

Do share your memory verse with me… in song or in writing.  I’d love to hear from you!

Pressing on in His unfailing love~
