It’s a bittersweet day. As I celebrate the 250th birthday of our great country, I do so with a heavy heart, remembering one year ago on the 4th of July the tragic flood of the Guadalupe River that took the lives of hundreds of people, including these 27 precious angels from Camp Mystic. Several of these girls are our neighbors from the small community of the Park Cities where I live. Our community remembers this day with a deep ache as we continue to pray for the families whose shattered hearts are still grieving the deaths of their beloved baby girls.

This evening, at 6:25 PM, four United States Air Force fighter jets are scheduled to conduct a ceremonial flyover above Highland Park. Certainly not to mitigate what happened, but to say that it was important, it mattered deeply, and we remember your great loss.

Will you please join me in praying for those families today— who are most likely reliving every moment of a year ago.

P♥️

Let’s start this year with a beautiful beginning by choosing to step away from the noise of social media for a while so that we can re-tune our ears to hear the beautiful voice of Jesus. Scroll through the post above and see why it matters. It takes intentional listening; but the choice is ours. Stepping away from social media for a little while—only until the end of January—will not cost you anything. You will not lose anything. Oh, but my friend you will gain so very much when you take the time to re-tune the ears of your heart to hear the voice of your Good Shepherd who calls to you. “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me…” John 10:27.
Are you ready to do this with me? Buckle up! Here we go! I love you dearly! P♥️

Sherry Hadley— we will never forget you— your service to our country, and your service to our Lord, Jesus Christ. Your legacy lives on in the lives of men and women who have been saved for Christ, and discipled to know Jesus, love Jesus, and follow Jesus—through the work of the Holy Spirit in your good buddy, John Tolson, and the ministry we serve God through. All because you loved Jesus, Sherry! ♥️🤍💙🇺🇸🙏🏻🙌🏼

Our Sunshine went Home last week when John and I had to say “Bye-bye, for now” to our beloved Gigi. We knew this day would come, but we didn’t know it would be so hard. Our little punkin’ head has left an empty space in our hearts, our home and daily life. Gosh, I miss my girl so much. Our house is quiet. My lap is empty. My heart aches.

I’ll write more about Gigi after my tears dry a little. While dogs are not humans, nor as important, the loss of a pet is deeply felt. Gigi was God’s “good gift” to us, to love, to care for; and it was a joy to do so! No coincidence, I’ve been discipling my group of “Lovely” young women thru Genesis 1-11 on Wednesday nights. Looking closely at God’s creation, His importance of, and delight in the things He created. Highest in value of all being man & woman; and second being animals. In fact, God made an everlasting covenant to Noah and all mankind—and to animals, stating it 4 times in Genesis 9:12-17. And I do believe we’ll see our Gigi again, on the New Earth, when God makes “all things new.”

Gigi lived a happy, healthy 12 years of life until last December when the effects of IVDD (intravertebral disc disease) became debilitating. She was a fighter to the end; still had an appetite, though not as voracious. And it was my joy to give my baby girl the hands-on care she required, feeding her by hand the last few weeks.

I owe a debt of gratitude to Dr. Brittney Barton the team at HEAL Veterinary Hospital + Pet Rehabilitation, who provided rehabilitative care to Gigi for 2 years, helping her to have a wonderful quality of life.

My dear friend, Dusty LeBlanc @onthed.l.518 & her handsome “Arnaud” (Gigi’s BFF) who stole my heart & led me straight to @bluegrassfrenchies & Kay & Christina McCarty, for breeding the most wonderful, beautiful, funniest little BlueGrass Frenchie ever!

My love to the incomparable Miss Mary @maryrios, my friend who has cared for, walked, & loved my Gigi as her own! I lack the words to express my gratitude for you. You are family to us. Gigi adored you.

Thank you for loving my Gigi all these years, I hope you enjoy the memories & will allow me grace to share more in over time.

I love you! xo P💔
