Are you on Instagram? C’mon and do a little life-on-life with me!

Life is hard and often hurtful— and no doubt som
Life is hard and often hurtful— and no doubt some of you are not so very happy on this thanksgiving day. But we can still have a thankful Thanksgiving no matter what.

I’m glad that in Christ Jesus, happiness or unhappiness does not determine my ability to be thankful. The Bible says that “in every situation, no matter what the circumstances— be thankful and continually give thanks to God; for this is the will of God for you in Christ Jesus” (1 Thessalonians 5:18).

Regardless of our circumstances, there is always something— many things...many reasons, in fact— to give thanks to God. I know that if you start right now and recite some of the things it will shift your heart upward, starting with the first and greatest thing: The gift of salvation that God has given us in Christ Jesus our Lord. That is everything, friends… every reason to be thankful is right there in that name: JESUS!

Do you know him? Have you received God’s gift of grace to you in Jesus Christ, to set you free from sin that wants to kill you eternally, and give you new life now and for all eternity in the presence of our very good and loving God? Today would be the best day to do that— to make him your Lord, your Savior, your Redeemer, your Friend. He will give you 10,000 reasons to be thankful… forever.

And you can pray right now—
Lord God, I confess that I am a sinner in need of salvation, that I have offended you with my sin, and that only Jesus can save me. I receive your gift of grace, to forgive me of all my sin— past, present, and future— to reconcile me to You, and to give me a new life, a new way to live by the power of your beautiful Holy Spirit, with peace in my heart and mind knowing that my eternity is certain and secure with You. Thank you, Father God, for my salvation and for your great love for me. I now put my trust in my Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ. Help me, everyday, to follow him, to know him better, and to love him all the days of my life. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.

If you prayed this prayer, please see my notes below in comments! And know that you all are greatly dearly loved by The King!

God bless you and have a THANKFUL Thanksgiving!

The prophet Jeremiah said “O Lord, Thou Knowest.” That phrase has been a kind & true reminder to me in the midst of a world filled with pain and suffering and brokenness. The Lord knows. He has not forgotten us or forsaken us, He knows.

Praying this encourages you as it has encouraged me.

Falling in love with Jesus is a pursuit. Salvation
Falling in love with Jesus is a pursuit. Salvation is a gift that happens instantly when we receive Christ. But pursuing Christ as our love and as our satisfaction is a PURSUIT. It is something we work toward. It is something we continue to, to travel along this road of faith and grow deeper and deeper in our love and in our desire for him.

I didn’t want to waste my cancer…and I pray yo
I didn’t want to waste my cancer...and I pray you don’t. You will waste it if all you do is talk about your cancer, search the Internet, and worry about your healing or a possible recurrence. But you will make the most of your NOW by realizing the hand that dealt the cancer card loves you with an everlasting, unfailing, steadfast, never-leaving-you-for-even-one-second, LOVE.

I shifted my circumstances from the foreground of my heart to the background; and I put God in the foreground, where He belonged — where He always belongs. My circumstances were very real and overwhelming. But when I made the shift in perspective and emphasis — choosing to see God as BIG (because He is) — that’s when I changed. That’s when peace and faith replaced doubt and fear as the overwhelming things in my heart.

Will you commit to praying these scriptures over your cancer and for others who are on the same journey? And watch and see how God works your cancer for your good and His glory!

I love y’all!

When I was diagnosed with breast cancer, my prayer
When I was diagnosed with breast cancer, my prayer became… “Lord, okay, if this is it, if this is what we’re going to do and we’re going to do this breast cancer thing, then let’s just remove all of the cancer that’s in there, in my heart, in my mind, anything that’s been robbing me of abundant life, anything that’s been coming between me and you… Let’s just get it all done. Because I don’t want to be the same woman walking out of this that I am walking into it. So have your way with me, Lord. Show me to show me what to do. Help me to keep my eyes on you.”

And what I found in this journey was that Jesus was not only enough, but that he was everything for me, that he was everything.

October is the month where we recognize breast can
October is the month where we recognize breast cancer awareness and 14 years ago I was diagnosed with breast cancer. It’s a part of my story you might not have heard before, but it’s a significant part of my story and I am asking the Lord to give somebody out there today some really great encouragement and hope for their same journey with breast cancer— or whatever rough, hard, scratchy, hot place you find yourself in right now… that this might be a word of encouragement to spur you on and to give you hope in whatever season you find yourself in.

Anytime you hear the word cancer associated with your name, it is frightening. I don’t care how long you’ve been walking with Jesus and how much Scripture you’ve committed to memory, when you hear cancer and your name in the same sentence… it’s scary. It is flat out scary. But I had enough faith to know that if God had allowed my breast cancer, (I’m not saying he directly took aim at me with this)… He looked at it and he said, you know, I’ll allow this in her life. So, I knew if God allowed it, then there was some profound purpose in it for me and there was something that he and I were going to walk out together that would dramatically change my life.

It’s breast cancer awareness month! 14 years ago, I was walking through my own journey of breast cancer. I wrote 5 devotional of lessons I learned from that time in my life and I would love to share them with you. You can click on the link in my bio to sign up! If you’re going through a hard time right now, 2
If you’re going through a hard time right now, 2 questions to ask are:

1. What is God’s showing you? Ask him. Ask him to do a full work in your heart with whatever you’re going through to teach you so much more about who he is and show you his grace and show you himself in ways you’ve not experienced him.

2. And then ask yourself, what am I learning about Jesus as I walk through this trial?

After my one year diagnosis of breast cancer, my breast surgeon, Dr. Michael Grant, asked me that question. What’s the biggest thing you learned in this whole journey? And I said, the biggest thing I learned is just how sweet Jesus is. His sweetness touched me in a way I had never experienced before. And it set me free to open my heart and love him with all I’ve got.

It takes patience to let God work it out…to battle the thing for you and through you, in His time and in is way. His affectionate and watchful care over you will bring you through as “more than a conqueror” (Romans 8:37). And the spoils of the battle will be a very great gain of peace, joy, rest, healing (in ways you’d never imagine), strength (beyond your human ability), and a bone-deep knowledge of the Lover of your soul (in ways you’d never have known otherwise).

Rest 👏 in 👏 Him! 👏

If I could pass along to you only one thing, only
If I could pass along to you only one thing, only one critical piece of advice or guidance in your walk with the Lord it is this: jealously guard your relationship with Jesus.

Why? Because it is your relationship—your intimacy with Jesus—that is constantly under attack.

Not under attack in the sense that you’ll risk losing your salvation; if you have made Jesus Christ your Lord and Savior, confessed your sin and your need of his saving grace m, then you are sealed with his Holy Spirit and your salvation is secure.

What I’m talking about is the intimacy and depth of your relationship with Jesus— The kind of intimacy that comes from abiding in him—and bears the kind of fruit in our lives that God desires from us.

Simply put, it is the relationship that we maintain with Jesus, not the work we do for Jesus, that is the most important aspect of our Christian life. In fact, it’s everything… Christ in you (Colossians 1:27).

Maintaining that relationship through spending time with Jesus in his word—drawing nourishment and strength from it that helps you to know God better, love God more, and follow Jesus more closely.

That’s not a balancing act, that’s a priority thing.

Jealously guard your relationship with Jesus. Make him your first priority— he’s the greatest treasure you possess! Give him the first, the best parts of your time, energy and thoughts, and watch how your life flourishes!

I love y’all!
