God Does Not Progress and His Truth Does Not Evolve

The State of Theology (through Ligonier Ministries) publishes a research project every 2 years with the help of Lifeway research. In September 2020 they found that 30% of evangelical Christian adults believe that Jesus was a great teacher, but that he was not God, and 48% believe that the Bible is not literally true. This means they don’t believe that the Bible is the authoritative, inerrant, Holy word of God.⠀

Let that sink in. One-third of Christians they surveyed do not believe Jesus was God, and HALF do not believe the Bible is 100% Truth.⠀

It’s no wonder we see this “new form” or movement of Christianity being talked about all over media these days: “Progressive Christianity.” But y’all, progressive Christianity IN NO WAY is Biblical. Not at all!⠀

Christianity has not progressed because God has not progressed, and he doesn’t *need* to progress. God’s very name, the Holy name of God, the great “I Am” means that he always has been, that he always will be, and that he is right now, presently, at-this-very-moment still happening in our midst. He is the same! Consistent and constant. Not progressing. Not evolving. He’s not going to change. Ever.⠀

Hebrews 13:8 says, “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, and today, and forever.” That is what is true, whether you want to believe that or not. So, when we look at the state of the church today and the influence of the culture that has infiltrated it, y’all– we have got to get serious about our faith and standing firm in it with *conviction;* with that soul-deep kind of fire in the belly, iron-in-the-bones conviction.⠀
