August Recap: The Illuminated Life

Hey there, friends!

Walk around in the dark long enough and you’re bound to get hurt or worse. That’s not my opinion, it’s a bona fide scientific and medical fact of life: nothing can thrive in the dark. If you don’t believe me, try it. Cover your eyes with a blindfold until you can’t see even the slightest glimmer of light; after a while you might be ok slowly walking around in a small space; but take your car out for a drive or your dog for a walk…Nope.

Walking in darkness is not only dangerous, but the fear of not being able to see where you’re going produces overwhelming insecurity and mental anxiety.

And that, my friend, is why we need light. Light illuminates life so we can see where we’re going.

Yes, we need physical light; but more importantly we need spiritual light because we’re spiritual beings (people created with a spirit – the immaterial part of us that connects with our Creator God), born into spiritual darkness but spiritually wired to search for and connect to true Light to guide us.

So, we search for light— wrongly assuming that self-discovery will illuminate and explain life so that we can find our “true selves;” who we really are and why we feel the way we do.

Groping in spiritual darkness we search for explanations to help us make sense of ourselves and our life. We pick up the light of self-help teachings, reading one book after another hoping to find one that turns on the light and gives us the answers. But we find nothing solid, nothing completely certain or longer lasting than the turn of the last page of whatever new ideology we’ve been reading.

BUT GOD…rich in mercy, has not left us here to navigate life in the dark. He did not leave us with merely an explanation of life, but has given us The Answer in the Hope, Help and Light of His One and Only Son, Jesus Christ. He is the exact image of God, and in him we’re not only taught but shown Who God is and what God is like. Only in the Light of Jesus Christ can we begin to see who we are and understand what life is about and how we are to live it.

JESUS: The Light of the World!
He has come for you.
He has come for me.
He has come for us,
to give us light to help us find our way to him.

Follow the Light!

I love y’all dearly, and don’t you forget that you are greatly and dearly loved by The King!
