Breathing Room – Day 12

Psalm 145:12 (NLT)

They will tell about your mighty deeds
and about the majesty and glory of your reign.

The Breathing Room is the space we make and the time we take to get alone with Jesus daily; to acknowledge God first, recalibrate under His truth and get equipped for the day ahead. If you’ve been following along with us for 21 Days in the Breathing Room, reading thru Psalm 145, then you’ve probably noticed 2 big themes: 1) God, and 2) Talking about God.

Repeated words are important words. God repeats words and phrases to call our attention- namely, to him. In Psalm 145 there are 20 references to *communicating* about God with words like: praise, tell, proclaim, exclaim, sing, speak, call, cry and bless; and phrases like-

“Your awe-inspiring deeds will be on every tongue,”
“Everyone will share the story of your wonderful goodness,”
“…give examples of your power,”
“My mouth is filled with God’s praise,” and more.

The Prophet Isaiah had a calling to be a communicator for God. God’s great Name and Fame was the desire of Isaiah’s heart (Is. 26:8); and he reminds himself of his holy calling in Isaiah 50:4-5. It’s been one my life and ministry scriptures, and I memorized it years ago in the New English Translation. I think you’ll love it:

“The Sovereign Lord has given me the capacity to be his spokesman, so that I know how to help the weary. He wakes me up every morning; he makes me alert so I can listen attentively as disciples do. The Sovereign Lord has spoken to me clearly; I have not rebelled, I have not turned back.”

Whether you have the gift of speaking or not, God has given each of us the capacity to be his spokespersons. He has called YOU to be his witness; to talk about him, his majesty, power and glory. We learn how to talk about God by what he says about himself in the Bible and by what he’s done in our lives. Again, read your Bible; pray to love and hunger for his word.

God is calling us to wake up, get up, and listen to him today. He has something to tell you, to teach you in the Bible so that you’ll have something to talk about that can truly encourage tired people with the iron of God’s Word. Sometimes that tired and weary person is you!

I love y’all!
