Breathing Room – Day 20

Psalm 145:20 (NLT)

The Lord protects all those who love him,
    but he destroys the wicked.

There are only 2 kinds of people in this world: protected and unprotected.

Protected people are those who love God and whom God sees as righteous. Unprotected people—those who do not love God, are seen as wicked. Wicked tragically means ‘morally wrong, condemned, guilty, ungodly.’ It’s not a matter of good or bad. The bible tells us that there is no distinction; there are no good or righteous people, “no, not even one” (Romans3:10); because *all* people have sinned and fallen short of God’s standard of righteousness.

So, if all of us have sinned, what is it that makes the difference? What makes some people protected and other people unprotected, headed for destruction?

The Answer: JESUS.

Those who love God are sinners who have decided to go with God, admitting they are powerless to do anything about their sin, and receive salvation by grace through faith in Jesus Christ. God no longer sees them as wicked, nor as good. God now sees them as righteous (in right standing with God) through the blood of his Son (Rom.2:21-26), therefore protected, “saved to the uttermost,” lovers of God- completely saved forever (Hebrews 7:25). Tragically, the ungodly (those who go against God) and have not placed faith in Jesus Christ, fall into the wicked category “to be destroyed” completely and eternally.

You may think that’s wrong, harsh and unfair. What kind of a God would send people to eternal destruction?

Yes, God is not fair. God is holy, he is just, he is right, he is faithful, he is merciful, compassionate…slow to anger and abounding in love. And as all this earth groans in pain for the return of Jesus Christ, God waits…he waits and he waits, giving everyone the opportunity to repent and be saved (2 Peter 3:9).

What do we do? Make sure you’re in the eternally protected category. He’s made it so simple: Choose Jesus Christ and be saved. And pray like crazy for those you know who are in the group headed for certain destruction. Pray for them to receive the gift of faith in Jesus, and don’t stop praying until they do.

What if God is counting on you to turn your prayer for them into action and share the hope you have in Jesus Christ today? Will you do it?

I love y’all!
