God Came Down

Read the words of John 1:1 and 1:14 over and over again. Read them out loud. Ponder them deeply… hold them dearly—

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God” (John 1:1).

And the Word
became flesh
and and made his dwelling
among us.”

GOD. CAME. DOWN!

He didn’t just reach down. Heaven came down… to be with us. Every bit God, but every bit man— becoming human, to be like us, to relate to us, to do life with us. I love the way Eugene Peterson paraphrases verse 14 in The Message Bible:

The Word became flesh and blood,
and moved into the neighborhood.
We saw the glory with our own eyes, the one-of-a-kind glory,
like Father, like Son,
Generous inside and out,
true from start to finish.

Friends, never lose your breathless awe and wonder of the miraculous fact that God loves you so much that He came down…in the person of Jesus, His One and Only Son… for you.

I love y’all!
