19 May Jesus Wasn’t Progressive
The culture’s norms have infiltrated the Church to the extent that there is now a *movement* of Christianity that is, for lack of a better term, more politically correct, more lenient, more liberal. It’s called “Progressive Christianity” – but in no way is this movement Biblical. AT ALL.
Think about it. Progress: “favoring or implementing social reform or new, liberal ideas.” Y’all, God doesn’t have any new, liberal ideas. He doesn’t change. He can’t change. He doesn’t need to change. No matter how progressive you try to make him, he simply will not change.
Progressive Christianity (PC) is actually *digressive*; “characterized by digression; tending to depart from the subject.” PC consists of ideas and beliefs that have *digressed* from Christ— the Son of God, and from God’s Truth— the Word of God.
PC in no way reflects the true Gospel. It doesn’t embrace the call of Christ to “Deny yourself daily, take up your cross, and follow me.” Progressive Christianity is comfortable Christianity, it’s palatable, nice; it preaches positivity; it accepts everyTHING and won’t ruffle anybody’s sin feathers. In fact, progressive Christianity has a very low view of sin. And where there’s a low view of sin, there is a low view of God and a low view of His Son, the Savior of the world.
God has not progressed; therefore, Christianity hasn’t progressed. God will never progress or make changes to Himself or His Word because He is “immutable,” unchanging over time and unable to be changed. “I the LORD do not change” (Malachi 3:6). Times change but God remains the same; what he has said stands firm forever. Therefore, God can be trusted 100%. We’ll never have to wonder if he will change his mind on anything he’s said, or if he’ll revoke his covenant of love or any of the promises in His Word. “No, I will not break my covenant; I will not take back a single word I said” (Psalm 89:34). God’s name, I AM, means that he has always been, he always will be, and he is right now, “THE SAME yesterday today and always” (Hebrews 13:8).
So then—Biblical Christianity is the Truth. Know it. Believe it. Live it. That’s all there is. That’s what is always true.
I love y’all,
