25 Mar Not all lies are obvious

Every lie comes from Satan, but not all lies are obvious. They don’t all look bad. You see, Satan is a master at counterfeiting God’s truth. 1 Peter 5:8 tells us, “Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.” Y’all, you can’t be sober, alert, or clear in your thinking if you’re intoxicated by the worldly ways around you. The scripture calls Satan a roaring lion, right? Can you hear his roar? Or are you drowning it out?

His lies sound similar to things that sound good. It sounds a lot like this, “Do whatever makes you happy” or “Follow your heart.” Is that true Truth? No! Jeremiah 17:9 says, “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately sick; who can understand it?” Maybe you’ve heard this one: “Just live for yourself. Do whatever it takes to make your dreams come true.” Is that what the Bible says? No. The Bible says to deny yourself (Luke 9:23) and serve others (1 Peter 4:9-11). Some lies are blatantly obvious, but others are more subtle and seem harmless… but they really aren’t, you know? These are the lies that convince you since everybody does it, it must be no big deal. In other words: No harm, no foul.

The world is corrupted by Satan’s lies that promote his lying agenda. They become a popular mantra for today, beliefs that our culture grabs and holds onto because it sounds good and seems right. But, these lies trick us and trap us in harmful and destructive ways.

It doesn’t matter what the lie is… when you’ve decided to believe it, it means you’re not standing on God’s truth in that area of your life. You’re living on a faulty, dangerous piece of ground. But, when you believe the truth of God, you’re held firm in his grip and firm in the faith that God is right. His ways are always right— and they are right for you.

Friend, you will not stand firm in your faith as long as you keep believing Satan’s lies. What are you believing these days?
