Seek First the One Who Calls You

But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.
–Matthew 6:33 (ESV)

God has called us all to some assignment or vocation… a calling in life. But the slippery slope of fulfilling your calling is that so often the calling becomes the main thing we’re after. And what can happen is that we end up trying to do the assignment God has given us, and gifted us to do— but without God.

Here’s the thing: there is no calling without the One who calls us first to—

  • Seek him.
  • Find him.
  • Know him.
  • Follow him.
  • Love him.

And that unique calling he’s assigned to you will happen out of the overflow of your pursuit of Jesus. So, seek him first, above all else—not what he has for you to do, but seek him to find who he is. It’s in knowing him, and loving him, and following him all the days of your life that you’ll find him to be everything; and in finding him you’ll fulfill what he’s created and called you to do.

Run hard after JESUS, not your calling. Make him your wholehearted, passionate pursuit.

I love y’all!
