24 Feb War and Peace
The way to win the war over the world, the flesh, and the Devil is to deny ourselves by surrendering our wants, our needs and ourselves to God daily… and following Him. Satan is the author of self help. His way says- depend on self. God’s way says- depend on grace. However, we can’t walk in grace and in the flesh at the same time; one of them has to go. Let’s choose grace. Let’s choose to be selfless by thinking of ourselves less. Sister, victorious lives are made up of victorious days that are made up of victorious minutes. Let’s live victorious lives to the glory of God, one moment at a time, one day at a time…starting today.
As you know, the Lenten season began this past Wednesday. Lent is the period of 40 days leading up to Easter whereby Christians take time to prepare for spiritual renewal through self-examination of their life and heart, through prayer, meditation and various disciplines. I thought I’d share the following excerpt from my Lenten devotional, “A Clean Heart Create in Me”- from the writings of C.S. Lewis. I pray that this Lenten season brings you into a deeper love or our Savior and King, Jesus!
“Then Jesus said to all of them, “If any want to become my followers, let them deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow Me. For those who want to save their life will lose it, and those who lose their life for my sake will save it.” (Luke 9:23-24)
“The principle runs through all life from top to bottom. Give up yourself, and you will find your real self. Lose your life and you will save it. Submit to death, death of your ambitions and favorite wishes every day and death of our whole body in the end: submit with every fiber of your being, and you will find eternal life. Keep back nothing. Nothing that you have not given away will ever be really yours. Nothing in you that has not died will ever be raised from the dead. Look for yourself, and you will find in the long run only hatred, loneliness, despair, rage, ruin, and decay. But look for Christ and you will find Him, and with Him everything else thrown in.”
~C.S. Lewis – Mere Christianity
Lord Jesus, help me to remember that I will lose nothing of value by putting You first and foremost in my life.
…you are greatly and dearly loved by the King!
