You can never fool God

The sheer foolishness of people never ceases to make me slap my forehead— probably because I lived so foolishly in my earlier years (and should have done a lot more forehead slapping back then). In the Bible, the book of Proverbs refers to foolishness as a woman named “Folly” who convinces you to do foolish things, and more so, that God can be fooled— outwitted by your foolishness, and unaware of you and your sin.

Thinking that you can fool God is absolutely foolish.

Sister, brother— you cannot fool God— and boy am I glad you can’t. I will be forever grateful and humbled that in my foolishness God loved me enough to put his foot down hard and not give me over to my destructive, foolish ways.

You cannot fool God. He sees right through the sheer foolishness you’re trying to pull over on him. So, don’t make a fool of yourself! You will harvest exactly what you plant (Galatians 6:7).

God’s Word tells us that the opposite of foolishness is wisdom. Again, in Proverbs were taught that “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is insight (Proverbs 9:10).

And here’s the good news: we get to repent. That’s right, we get to repent of our foolishness; to turn around, walk away from it, and turn back to God—get to know him, know who he is and what he says—and fear him, revere him, and seek him first.

I love y’all!
