10 Apr Breathing Room – Day 21

Posted at 13:32h in Breathing Room, Making The Most of Now, Suffering and Trials

Psalm 145:21 (NLT) I will praise the Lord,     and may everyone on earth bless his holy name     forever and ever. It’s fitting as we come to the end of our 21 Days of Psalm 145, in the Breathing Room with Jesus, that David ends his song of praise the...

Psalm 145:20 (NLT) The Lord protects all those who love him,     but he destroys the wicked. There are only 2 kinds of people in this world: protected and unprotected. Protected people are those who love God and whom God sees as righteous. Unprotected people—those who do not love God,...

Psalm 145:19 (NLT) He grants the desires of those who fear him;     he hears their cries for help and rescues them. What do you think this verse means? Maybe a better question is, what do you hope it means? Perhaps you’ve heard this phrase long quoted at evangelistic crusades:...

Psalm 145:18 (NLT) The Lord is close to all who call on him,     yes, to all who call on him in truth. Yesterday we talked about the right-ness and truth of God— in that God is who he says he is, and he always does what he says...

Psalm 145:17 (NLT) The Lord is righteous in everything he does;     he is filled with kindness. We either believe God, or we don’t. We either believe that he is righteous (right) and just all the time, or we don't. We either believe that he is filled with kindness, or we...

Psalm 145:16 (NLT) When you open your hand,     you satisfy the hunger and thirst of every living thing. We have a bit of preoccupation with food these days; gathering up at the grocery whatever we can find, hoping we’ll have enough to last this 30-day Shelter-in-Place (SIP). I...

Psalm 145:15 (NLT) The eyes of all look to you in hope;     you give them their food as they need it. I’m hungry for something, but I don’t what for. So, I go to the panty and search, hoping to find something that might satisfy what’s growling inside...

Psalm 145:13b-14 (NLT) The Lord always keeps his promises;     he is gracious in all he does. The Lord helps the fallen     and lifts those bent beneath their loads. I learned something from my man 20 years ago when we first began dating. He taught a ‪Sunday morning Bible class at...

Psalm 145:13a (NLT) For your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom.     You rule throughout all generations. By now most of us have realized that our personal kingdoms and worldly security measures are failing us, crumbling under and all around us. Those are just the facts of the fallout of...

Our Sunshine went Home last week when John and I had to say “Bye-bye, for now” to our beloved Gigi. We knew this day would come, but we didn’t know it would be so hard. Our little punkin’ head has left an empty space in our hearts, our home and daily life. Gosh, I miss my girl so much. Our house is quiet. My lap is empty. My heart aches.

I’ll write more about Gigi after my tears dry a little. While dogs are not humans, nor as important, the loss of a pet is deeply felt. Gigi was God’s “good gift” to us, to love, to care for; and it was a joy to do so! No coincidence, I’ve been discipling my group of “Lovely” young women thru Genesis 1-11 on Wednesday nights. Looking closely at God’s creation, His importance of, and delight in the things He created. Highest in value of all being man & woman; and second being animals. In fact, God made an everlasting covenant to Noah and all mankind—and to animals, stating it 4 times in Genesis 9:12-17. And I do believe we’ll see our Gigi again, on the New Earth, when God makes “all things new.”

Gigi lived a happy, healthy 12 years of life until last December when the effects of IVDD (intravertebral disc disease) became debilitating. She was a fighter to the end; still had an appetite, though not as voracious. And it was my joy to give my baby girl the hands-on care she required, feeding her by hand the last few weeks.

I owe a debt of gratitude to Dr. Brittney Barton the team at HEAL Veterinary Hospital + Pet Rehabilitation, who provided rehabilitative care to Gigi for 2 years, helping her to have a wonderful quality of life.

My dear friend, Dusty LeBlanc @onthed.l.518 & her handsome “Arnaud” (Gigi’s BFF) who stole my heart & led me straight to @bluegrassfrenchies & Kay & Christina McCarty, for breeding the most wonderful, beautiful, funniest little BlueGrass Frenchie ever!

My love to the incomparable Miss Mary @maryrios, my friend who has cared for, walked, & loved my Gigi as her own! I lack the words to express my gratitude for you. You are family to us. Gigi adored you.

Thank you for loving my Gigi all these years, I hope you enjoy the memories & will allow me grace to share more in over time.

Surrender your day to Him, and get His Words into your mind, into your heart, your ears, in your mouth. His Word will act as the filter for everything else you take throughout the day. His word will be your trustworthy guide, your comfort, and your wisdom to rightly discern truth over error as you navigate the stormy situations in the world.

What Do You Do When the Thrill is Gone? Pray for it! Ask God to kindle an awe for Him in your heart; to be continually thrilled by Him, with a holy awareness. Seek Him… go out and look for Him everywhere. Tell Him how marvelous you find Him to be. Sometimes it’s a matter of detoxing our view from looking at the materialistic beauty of the world, or from gazing at advertisements and movies that distort and corrupt our vision of God’s kingdom. So, pray as the psalmist prayed, “Lord, turn my eyes from worthless things; revive me with your Word” (Psalm 119:37). May we never lose our awe of God!

2 Timothy 2:15 reminds us that we are to work at and study the Scriptures to understand them in the right way—to be people who rightly handle the Word of Truth, and not just guess at it. Just because an idea sounds spiritual doesn’t mean it is Biblical Truth.
